New Limited Special Arrivals: Spring 2022 Green teas from Uji, Kyoto and Mengding Mountain, Sichuan Province

We just received small batches of beautiful Spring 2022 green teas – one Shincha produced by Mr. Yoshida’s farms in the Uji tea growing region of Kyoto, Japan, and one Ming Qian tea grown in the Mengding mountain ranges of Sichuan Province in China.

Both teas are wonderfully lively and have some history attached to them – the Mengding region is famous for producing quality teas and is an historical cradle for tea cultivation in China. The Mengding Ganlu green tea was reserved for imperial tribute during the Tang dynasty and is a great treat for anyone who is already a fan of Bi Luo Chun or Dragon Well teas. Meanwhile, Mr. Yoshida’s family have been producing tea in Uji, Kyoto, for 16 generations and their family’s method of hand-kneading tea leaves was named an intangible cultural property in 1970. Among the tea gardens Mr. Yoshida tends, one garden (located at the Kozan-Ji temple in Kyoto) is one of the oldest tea gardens in all of Japan.
